The consultancy was formed in 2003 and is led by Paul Bellringer OBE. He has been involved with the social impact of gambling for 25 years. After creating a charity that focused on young people and gambling Paul founded GamCare in 1997; the UK’s national charity addressing the social impact of gambling. Seven years later Paul stepped down as CEO of the charity to develop Responsible Gambling Solutions.
He is also chairman of the Society for the Study of Gambling and is acknowledged as an important contributor to the debate on gambling. His balanced view on gambling and understanding of the issues is highly respect by those working in the field of addiction, by regulators and by the gambling industry. His work in this field was recognised in the millennium 2000 New Year Honours list with the award of the OBE for services to gambling addiction.
During his career Paul has been invited to address a number of conferences both in the UK and internationally. He has written many articles, papers and educational workbooks relative to social responsibility and the social impact of gambling. In 1999 his popular book Understanding Problem Gamblers was published and has subsequently been translated into Chinese.
